The computer has suddenly become very busy around here -- we have had to wait in line to be able to hook up to the Internet. The play area has been taken over by smokers. (It's strange -- most of the Europeans smoke and most of the Americans don't.) The play area is the only outside area in the hotel. At least they aren't allowed to smoke inside -- that would be tough on all of our allergic kids. On the positive side, they finished unwrapping the play equipment at the park today which had been under construction -- we can just spend more time there since it's so close.
Last night we had movie night. We hooked up the computer to the TV and played a DVD on it and another family donated microwave popcorn. Several other families popped in and out, too. We managed to find a few DVDs with English and Spanish soundtracks so we can take turns not understanding.
Today, we walked to the park in the morning. After lunch, we went to a carnival held by the missionary school where the Fleming children attend. They were doing it as a fundraiser. We missed most of it because of poor planning and unexpected traffic, but the kids got their faces painted, and jumped on a moonwalk type thing, played a game, bought some crafts, and got drinks. Everyone needed baths when we got back thanks to an enjoyable time in the school's sandbox.
We'll probably try church again on Sunday -- maybe more of the kids will go to classes. The Fleming family has been very nice to us. It turns out that Jim Fleming is the nephew of Pete Fleming who was one of the five, including Jim Elliott, killed by Auca Indians.
We found out today that the guest house is full at the moment. We were told to check back in a week or so. We'll see....
Please pray for our health. Several of us have been/are sick. Thanks so much!
